Staggered push-up

A push-up with one hand placed further forward than the other, loading each side of your chest and shoulders a little differently.

IntermediateNo equipmentLow impactSuggested: 8 reps per side

How to do it

  1. Start in a high plank, then walk one hand forward and the other back by about a hand length.
  2. Brace your core and keep your hips level.
  3. Bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the floor.
  4. Press back up, then switch the hand positions for the second set.

Work one side, then switch. Timed sets run once per side.

Form tips

  • Keep the stagger small at first so your shoulders stay comfortable.
  • Lower your chest straight down rather than twisting toward one hand.
