Triceps dip on chair

A bodyweight dip off the edge of a chair that targets the triceps at the back of your arms, along with the shoulders and chest.

IntermediateChairLow impactSuggested: 12 reps

How to do it

  1. Sit on the edge of a sturdy chair and grip the seat beside your hips, fingers forward.
  2. Walk your feet out, knees bent at about 90 degrees, and slide your hips off the seat.
  3. Bend your elbows straight back to lower your hips toward the floor.
  4. Stop when your upper arms are about parallel to the floor, then press back up.

Form tips

  • Keep your back close to the chair and your shoulders down away from your ears.
  • Use a chair that cannot tip or slide, ideally braced against a wall.
  • Straighten your legs further out to make it harder.
