Knee plank

A forearm plank held from the knees, a gentler way to build the core strength you need for a full plank.

BeginnerMatLow impactSuggested: 30 sec

How to do it

  1. Kneel on a mat and place your forearms on the floor with your elbows under your shoulders.
  2. Walk your knees back until your body forms a straight line from knees to head.
  3. Brace your abs and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Hold the position while breathing steadily.

Form tips

  • Keep your hips in line rather than letting them rise up.
  • Move to a full plank once you can hold this for a minute.
