Bicycle crunches

A pedaling crunch that brings each elbow toward the opposite knee to work your obliques and abs.

IntermediateMatLow impactSuggested: 30 sec

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with your fingertips lightly behind your head.
  2. Lift your shoulders off the floor and raise your knees over your hips.
  3. Drive one knee toward your chest as you straighten the other leg and turn your opposite elbow toward the bent knee.
  4. Switch sides in a smooth pedaling motion.

Alternate sides with each rep.

Form tips

  • Rotate from your rib cage rather than pulling on your head.
  • Keep your lower back pressed into the floor.
  • Slow down to make each twist count.
