Leg raises

A lying lift of both straight legs that builds strength in your lower abs and hip flexors.

IntermediateMatLow impactSuggested: 12 reps

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with your legs straight and your arms by your sides, palms down.
  2. Press your lower back into the floor and brace your abs.
  3. Keeping your legs straight, lift them until they point at the ceiling.
  4. Lower them slowly until your heels hover just above the floor, then lift again.

Form tips

  • Stop lowering at the point where your lower back starts to arch.
  • Soften your knees slightly if your hamstrings feel tight.
  • Breathe out as you lift.
