Single-leg calf raise

A one-legged calf raise with a hand on the wall that doubles the load on each calf without any weights.

IntermediateWallLow impactSuggested: 12 reps per side

How to do it

  1. Stand facing a wall and rest one hand on it for balance.
  2. Lift one foot behind you so you balance on the other.
  3. Rise onto the ball of the standing foot as high as you can.
  4. Lower your heel slowly, then finish all reps before switching legs.

Work one side, then switch. Timed sets run once per side.

Form tips

  • Use the wall for balance only, not to push yourself up.
  • Keep your standing knee straight but not locked.
