Lateral shuffles

Quick side-to-side shuffle steps in a low athletic stance that work your hips and legs and raise your heart rate.

BeginnerNo equipmentLow impactSuggested: 30 sec

How to do it

  1. Stand with your feet wider than your hips and sink into a quarter squat.
  2. Step sideways with your lead foot, then bring your trailing foot after it.
  3. Shuffle a few steps in one direction without letting your feet touch.
  4. Change direction and shuffle back the other way.

Alternate sides with each rep.

Form tips

  • Stay low and keep your chest up.
  • Push off the trailing foot rather than reaching with the lead leg.
