Side-lying quad stretch

A quad stretch lying on your side with your head resting on your arm, so there is nothing to balance.

BeginnerMatLow impactSuggested: 20 sec per side

How to do it

  1. Lie on your right side with your head resting on your right arm.
  2. Bend your left knee and hold your left foot or ankle with your left hand.
  3. Draw your heel toward your glutes, keeping your knees in line.
  4. Press your left hip forward to feel the stretch along the front of your thigh.
  5. Hold, then roll over and switch sides.

Work one side, then switch. Timed sets run once per side.

Form tips

  • Keep your hips stacked rather than rolling back.
  • Loop a towel around your foot if you cannot reach it.
