Chair hamstring stretch

A seated hamstring stretch on the edge of a chair, an easy option when getting down to the floor is hard.

BeginnerChairLow impactSuggested: 30 sec per side

How to do it

  1. Sit near the front edge of a sturdy chair.
  2. Straighten your left leg in front of you with your heel on the floor and your toes up.
  3. Keep your right foot flat with the knee bent.
  4. Rest your hands on your left thigh and hinge forward from your hips with a long back.
  5. Hold when you feel the stretch behind your left thigh, then switch sides.

Work one side, then switch. Timed sets run once per side.

Form tips

  • Do not press down on your straight knee.
  • Point your belly button toward your toes rather than rounding forward.
