Child's pose

A restful kneeling fold that gently stretches your back, hips and shoulders and helps you slow your breathing.

BeginnerMatLow impactSuggested: 30 sec

How to do it

  1. Kneel on the mat with your big toes touching and your knees about hip-width apart.
  2. Sit your hips back toward your heels.
  3. Walk your hands forward and fold your chest down over your thighs.
  4. Rest your forehead on the mat and reach your arms long with your palms down.
  5. Breathe slowly into your back and let your body soften with each exhale.

Form tips

  • Place a folded towel or cushion under your hips or forehead if they do not reach.
  • Widen your knees to make more room for your belly and chest.
