A quick standing stretch for the back of the shoulder and upper back that you can do anywhere.

BeginnerNo equipmentLow impactSuggested: 20 sec per side

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with your shoulders relaxed and down.
  2. Bring your left arm straight across your chest at shoulder height.
  3. Press your right forearm against your left arm, just above the elbow.
  4. Gently draw the arm toward your chest until you feel a stretch in the back of the shoulder.
  5. Hold, then switch arms.

Work one side, then switch. Timed sets run once per side.

Form tips

  • Keep both shoulders level and away from your ears.
  • Press on the upper arm rather than the elbow joint.
  • Keep your chest facing forward instead of twisting.
